Following is a partial list of the organizations and other resources that are available in Olneyville, or nearby in the West End, Federal Hill, and the Valley/Promenade District. If you would like to suggest submissions, please feel free to contact us.
Manton Avenue Community Garden
Corner of Pope Street and Manton Avenue, across from Saint Teresa's Church.
An initiative of the Olneyville Collaborative, this newly established Community Garden in Olneyville will be a great asset to the community. Email Lorraine for more information or to sign up for a plot.
The Steel Yard (www.thesteelyard.org)
An industrial arts center located just down the street from The Plant. The facilities at the Steel Yard include Bronze Casting, Ceramics, Blacksmithing, Welding, and Light Metals. Community Courses are open to everyone, and they also offer Open Studio hours and a "Locker in Residence" program.
Olneyville Housing Corporation (www.olneyville.org)
A non-profit organization dedicated to improving the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, through construction and rehabilitation of housing units for purchase by first-time homebuyers or for rental at affordable rates; various community and economic development initiatives; and collaboration with neighborhood residents and with other organizations.
Olneyville Housing also hosts the Olneyville Collaborative, a coalition of 20 stakeholder organizations working together as a force for positive social, economic, environmental, and community change to improve the quality of life in Olneyville.
The Hive Archive (www.hivearchive.org)
The Hive Archive was founded by a group of six women who have been living, working and attending school as artists and musicians in Providence, Rhode Island.
Urban Greens (www.urbangreens.com)
Urban Greens is a natural food-buying cooperative based in Providence's West Side. The monthly bulk orders and bi-weekly local orders help cut down on trips to the grocery store.
